Could The Next Vegan Rap Star Be… Eminem?

With veganism taking the hip-hop universe by storm, and artists from A$AP Rocky to YG, Will.i.am, Dead Prez, RZA, GZA, Methodman and Raekwon, from the Wu-Tang Clan, Erykah Badu, KRS-One, Styles P and Jadakiss either going vegan or, as in the case of Snoop Dogg, Jay-Z and Beyoncé, actively promoting a plant-based lifestyle to their enormous followings, a reasonable question would be: who’s next? Who will be the next celebrity vegan rapper?

While most might assume we should look towards those more commonly classified as “conscious rappers” like Kendrick Lamar, J. Cole or Talib Kweli (all of whom are extremely welcome to join the V-GANG), as an avid student/Stan of Eminem, I would argue there are many reasons why Marshall Mathers (who has a lot of songs like “Mosh”, “Darkness” and “Like Home” that would belong in the Conscious Hip-Hop Hall of Fame if there was one) should be next in line at the Beyond Burger stand. Especially considering his doctor and mentor, Dr. Dre, has already cut the dead animals out of his diet, and, after his recent hospital visit, reminds us that even the living legends of hip-hop are still as mortal as the rest of us...

I could write a long essay about all the reasons Eminem needs to go vegan, but I’m not just trying to make the…
